Norm Dreyer is no stranger to the Precision CNC Machining Industry.
With close to 40 years of machining experience, he started his first business, D&N Enterprises, in 1983. D&N’s first 1,500 square foot building was located in San Jose, CA focusing on precision CNC machining of medical components and semiconductor manufacturing. By 1989, D&N Enterprises outgrew its walls and expanded to a new 5,000 square foot facility to keep up with customer demand. At this time D&N increased their service to include vacuum, aerospace, and microwave industries.
After much success, Norm and his team expanded again to a 10,000 square foot building, made up of 30 employees, and moving from a sole proprietorship business to being an established corporation in 1995. Most will attest, the Bay Area is no stranger to high living costs, so Norm opened a second D&N Precision Inc. location in Grass Valley, CA to accommodate high performing employees wanting to work in a different location.
By 2001, D&N Precision Inc. was a thriving business, with 2 locations, talented employees, and satisfied customers. They increased their services again, fabricating components for the robotics industry in addition to the many other services they continued to offer. As the economy began to take its toll on smaller businesses, Norm made the tough decision to sell both locations in 2007 and make a change to move from the Bay Area to Redding, CA to start a construction business.
It didn’t take Norm long to realize that his passion will always be in the Precision CNC Machining trade, so in 2015, Norm started a new business centered around the same values he built D&N Precision Inc. on— providing quality customer service.
Today, NorthState Manufacturing Inc. (NMI) is located in Redding, Ca. Norm chose to start a business at a new location working alongside his brother, Ken Dreyer, to provide competitive pricing for his customers without the high Bay Area bill attached. His air conditioned, 6,000 square foot facility consists of 4 CNCs, 2 Manual machines, and welding capabilities— with room to grow. Though NMI is young in age, it continues to be the leader in quality CNC Milling/Turning, fabrication, assembly, and precision machining.
NMI also offers Kanban style ordering (just in time vendor managed inventory) to ensure you get your parts on a need-to-have basis. With pick-up and delivery services available, NMI can meet any need you may have from Precision CNC machining to helping fabricate custom solutions on the fly. NMI is also happy to partner with outside plating, grinding, heat treating, or painting business to provide you with a final turn key product.
